Jacqueline Fernandez grew up in Bahrain, Manama. She is Sri Lankan and comes from a diverse ethnic background. The father of Jacqueline's Elroy Fernandez is originally from Sri Lanka (Sinhalese - Catholic)and her mother Kim is a Malaysian. Her brothers are younger as well as an older sister. Parents relocated to Bahrain in 1980s due to the Lankan civil unrest and hence her birth and education were in Bahrain. She was given a scholarship to attend the University of Sydney in Sydney Australia, after completing her education in Bahrain. Passionate about languages and cultures led her to join the Berlitz Language School, a school in which she improved on French as well as Arabic as she learned Spanish. Miss Sri Lanka 2006 won Miss Universe 2006 competition in March 2006. She also participated as Miss Universe 2006 also. In 2006, she took home the Miss Sri Lanka title. Following that, she stepped on television as a host of a program on Sri Lankan businesses called Lanka Business Report. Padukone is the child of and badminton champion Prakash Padukone. Padukone grew as a child in Bangalore, but she was born in Copenhagen. While still a teenager, Padukone played in many championships for national badminton. However, she resigned from playing when she made the decision to pursue a career as a professional model. Padukone is from Mangalorean origin Her mother language is Konkani. Padukone is located in Kundapura Taluk of Karnataka's Udupi District. The father of her, Prakash Padukone, is an old badminton player who is of world-class fame, while her mother is a travel agent.
